Artist Statement

I look at art as an outlet that escapes the confinement of language. The content of my work is a commentary on social issues as well as personal experience. Themes such as rejection, existentialism, destruction, human development and interaction are common in my work. I don't limit my mediums or process. However, I do tend to work with wood more than any other material. I have a personal connection to the material as my father is a furniture craftsman. I grew up exploring different woods in his shop and was exposed to various processes of wood working. For me, the wood holds historical associations that I find are symbolic of my opinions about humanity.
